What to Bring

Planning for Your Stay

Our hope for your time at SUN Behavioral is one of healing and recovery. To ensure that is possible for you and all of our patients, we do have specific requests of items that you should bring as well as items that are not allowed.

What to bring with you
  • Casual outfits – for a maximum of three days
  • Shoes without shoestrings
  • All visitors must respect the program rules and all patients’ privacy, or they will be asked to leave.
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • T-shirts & long-sleeved shirts
  • Robes with no attached strings or belts
  • Bras without under wires
  • Sleepwear that is not sheer or revealing
  • Jacket without strings attached to it
  • Shampoo and conditioner in unbreakable bottles — glass is not allowed
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste (unopened)
  • Comb and/or brush
  • No more than $20.00 in cash
  • List of medications
Items not allowed
  • Aerosol products
  • Volatile solvents — such as fingernail polish remover
  • Belts or scarves
  • Cameras of any kind
  • Cell phones or computers
  • Containers made of glass or breakable plastic
  • Drawstrings in clothing
  • All drugs — prescription, OTC, herbal or street
  • Food and beverages brought in from the outside
  • Glass mirrors, including encased cosmetics
  • Matches and lighters
  • Other items that may be used by a patient that could be used to harm self or others — at staff discretion
  • Personal radio, TV, DVD, CD and MP3 players (CD and MP3 players can be allowed with

  • Plastic bags or cellophane
  • Provocative or inappropriate clothing
  • Recording devices of any kind
  • Sharp objects — including but not limited to scissors, metal nail files, tweezers, razors or anything with an edge that can conceivably be used for harm to self or other
  • Shoelaces
  • Tobacco products
  • Toys and games
  • Videos and video games
  • Weapons of any kind, including martial arts weapons
  • More than $20.00 in cash
  • Heat producing and or corded personal care products — such as shavers, hairdryers and curling irons
