Specialized care just for women
Each year, about 1 in 5 U.S. women experience some type of mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Many of these conditions, such as bipolar disorder, affect more women than men or affect women in different ways from men. At SUN, we’ve developed a program designed specifically for women, created in a caring, healing environment for every step of your journey to recovery.
A Path to Recovery
SUN’s Women’s Connections Program offers evidence-based treatment designed for women who prefer a program that is gender-specific when seeking treatment for issues related to trauma or interpersonal difficulties. The program helps women who may be experiencing acute or chronic stress related to gender roles and disparity, and offers psychiatric and psychological services for women who may be experiencing the following symptoms:
- Depressed mood
- Compulsive behaviors
- Self-harm or thoughts of self-harm
- Sleep and appetite disruption
- Mood swings
- Risk-taking behavior
- Anxiety, persistent worry, panic attacks
- Hyperactivity or impulse control
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in a trauma-informed approach, is used to promote personal safety and empowerment. Collaboration and choice are fostered through education and practicing new skills, and women are encouraged to create a personal action plan for continued recovery and growth.
