SUN’s Mood & Anxiety program helps adults identify and change the attitudes, behaviors and beliefs that can undermine their ability to produce a calm, positive mood. Our psychiatrists expert therapists, nurses and mental health technicians are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is no single cure for the complex emotional issues at the heart of mood and anxiety disorders, but we’ll help uncover and resolve the often longstanding psychological issues that can affect mood.

A Path to Recovery

SUN combines an experienced and knowledgeable staff with industry-leading best practices to give every patient a path to recovery and wellness. Our Adult Mood & Anxiety Program is designed to help people experiencing any of the following:

  • Depressed mood, hopelessness
  • Self-harm or thoughts of self-harm and wishing life would end
  • Difficulty with daily functioning
  • Insomnia
  • Excessive sleepiness
  • Mood swings
  • Anxiety, persistent worry, panic attacks
  • Hyperactivity
  • Difficulty regulating impulses and risk-taking behavior
  • Isolation and social fears


Our program uses the evidence-based practices proven to be the most effective in treating mood and anxiety disorders. These include a combination of psychopharmacology with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other strength-based interventions. CBT is a leading treatment teaching patients how to achieve their goals and needs through changing the thought, feelings, core beliefs and actions driving the problems. The program provides these treatments in a trauma-informed care environment with the core principles of safety, trustworthiness, empowerment, collaboration and choice driving all interactions.

All of the treatment approaches promote individuals as the expert in their life, and their thoughts, feelings and needs. Our patients are empowered to develop their recovery path through the identification of their needs, problems and goals. The treatment consists of a combination of the following:
