GEORGETOWN, Del. – SUN Behavioral Health is now offering free virtual consultations for anyone struggling with mental health issues or substance use disorders.
The organization says this service is open to all Delmarva area residents age 13 and older who may be experiencing things like anxiety or depression especially during this pandemic. To start: a patient will fill out a brief information form online. Then they’ll be connected to a behavioral health specialist who will call to schedule a time for a private video chat and consultation. SUN Behavioral Health tells 47 ABC they’ve learned that some people are afraid to leave their homes right now but they want to continue to serve the community.
“You can call us, go on a virtual setting just like this and talk to one of our clinicians and say, ‘Hey here’s how I’m feeling’ and they will guide you through the process,” says Erin Willis. “And they can tell you, ‘You know what? What you’re feeling is normal. What’s you’re feeling is okay.’ Or they’ll say, ‘We’re here for you. Why don’t you come in?’”
This is a free mental health assessment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm using the Zoom app. After the virtual meting, the specialist will then develop a customized treatment plan that may involve their new Telehealth Outpatient Program.
Telehealth consultations are not meant for psychiatric emergencies. If you or a loved one is experiencing one, immediately dial 911, go to your nearest emergency room or call SUN directly at 302-604-560
