Helping older adults cope and thrive.

Depression, anxiety, addiction and other mental health issues are not a normal part of aging. Yet, one in four older adults experiences a mental health disorder and that number is expected to double in the next decade. If you or someone you love is struggling, we can help. At SUN, we offer programs to help older adults cope and take control of their own healing.

A Path to Recovery

Many people are forced to deal with a chronic mental illness throughout their lives. But mentalhealth problems can also appear late in life. Issues can arise in response to a stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cancer or diabetes, and even with some medications. Seniors without a history of substance abuse may begin to abuse prescription medications, alcohol or drugs. As one of the country’s most comprehensive behavioral health organizations, SUN works to make life better and create positive outcomes for older patients dealing with mental health issues. Our board-certified psychiatrists and master’s level therapists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We’ll help uncover and resolve the issues that can affect mood, attitudes and behaviors. SUN combines an experienced and knowledgeable staff with industry leading best practices to give every senior patient a path to recovery and wellness. Our Integrity Program is designed to assist older adults experiencing any of the following:

  • Co-occurring disorders (mental health issues combined with substance abuse)
  • Thoughts or actions of self-harm
  • Dangerous behaviors toward others
  • High-risk behaviors
  • Decreased ability (or inability) to function and complete activities of daily living
  • Depression, hopelessness
  • Problems with concentration or decision-making
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Feelings of worthlessness and helplessness
  • Memory loss
  • Increase or decrease in appetite
