A Safe Place to Be You

When a return to mental health seems hard, SUN is here. When identifying as LGBTQIA+ makes it harder, there’s Aurora.

Why Aurora?

More than 40 million Americans struggle with mental illness. As a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community the struggle can be even more difficult when complicated by the prejudices and biases of others. That’s why we developed Aurora, our dedicated LGBTQIA+ program set in a safe, stigma and judgment-free environment.

Our Equitas Health Institute-trained mental health specialists work to uncover and resolve the issues that can affect mood, attitudes and behavior specific to our LGBTQIA+ patients, including gender identity and sexual orientation. Aurora’s patient-centered treatment plans and programming are designed to assist LGBTQIA+ patients experiencing any of the following:

  • Co-occurring disorders (mental health issues combined with substance use disorders)
  • Thoughts or actions of self-harm
  • Dangerous behaviors toward others
  • High-risk behaviors
  • Depression, hopelessness
  • Feelings of worthlessness and helplessness
  • Hypervigilance

The SUN team guides each patient through the process and provides the tools necessary for recovery. And patients are empowered to be the experts in their own healing. SUN’s treatment features include:
